I’m glad you’ve shown interest in this course. Over the next 2 sessions, we’ll take a beginner-friendly journey into the world of cryptocurrency with a focus on clarity, confidence, and alignment with Islamic values.
You’ll learn what crypto is, how it works, and how to navigate it safely. We’ll explore the basics of blockchain, different types of digital assets, how to store and use them securely, and how all of this connects to principles from Islamic finance.
This course is designed to give Muslim women the tools to understand and engage with this space in a way that is simple, practical, and grounded in faith. So, ready to dive in?

Session 1: Is Crypto Halal? Understanding the Foundations
We begin by laying the groundwork — both from a technical and Islamic perspective.
In this session, we’ll cover:
- What is Māl in Shariah and how it applies to digital assets
- What cryptocurrency is and how blockchain technology works
- Common concerns around crypto in Islam and why it’s been controversial
This session will help you understand crypto at a high level and give you the tools to think critically about its place in your financial and faith journey.
Session 2: Using Crypto the Halal Way
Now that you have the foundations, it’s time to get practical.
This session focuses on how to engage with crypto in a halal, informed, and responsible way. We'll cover:
- How to assess whether a crypto project is halal or haram
- Real-world use cases of blockchain in Islamic finance
- Tools and websites to help you screen coins and projects
